Suited and Booted For Your Wedding Day
Men have a slightly different shopping style to women. They do not spend hours looking at the style, cut and feel of an item of clothing, they do not pick things up and press them against themselves while looking in the mirror and they certainly do not stop for a coffee half way through for a catch up and a gossip! So when it comes to buying their wedding suits, they need a little nudge in the right direction. This article has been written so that you can help your groom decide which suit is for him and how to encourage him to look great next to his perfect bride.
Your groom may not have much of a role in your wedding, in fact there are so many grooms out there who have no idea how hard it is to plan a wedding let alone help in one. Because of this you may need to have a little discussion with him as to what sort of colors to go for, what sort of suit you would prefer him to be in and how smart the event is going to be. Take into account that if it is a formal church wedding then a full morning suit would be ideal whereas for a beach side wedding, a linen suit would be better. Remind him of the accessories such as the shoes and hats and eventually send him on his way!
He should go with his ushers, best man and father of the bride/groom for this. They can have matching suits or the same color depending on your budget and the formality of the wedding. If they choose not to have matching suits then you can still identify them as part of the wedding party as they will have matching button hole flowers. Your groom can buy his suit or he may want to just hire it, especially if there are a lot of suits (some weddings have up to 10 ushers!).
If you don't feel that your groom is reliable enough to get his own suit (now lets face it girls, its your big day and you need to know that everything is going to be just perfect and if this means picking out the grooms suit for him then so be it!) then you can always go with him. This is not uncommon and because you are planning the wedding and have a much better idea of what he will be expected to wear and what will tie in with the theme and color scheme of the wedding.
The final thing to take into account is the accessories and the usher gifts. You will need to pick out the right hat (make sure its the correct size), the right shoes (no his work shoes won't do) and a cravat. It is customary to buy the ushers and other wedding party members small token gifts (in addition to the favors) as a way of saying thank you for sharing their day. For ushers, cuff links are usually best and can be personalized for each person.
